Overview of state submissions to UN Secretary-General report on Autonomous Weapons
Stop Killer Robots’ research and monitoring team has produced a publication summarising State submissions to the highly anticipated UN Secretary-General’s report on Autonomous Weapons.
On 6 August, the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres released an advanced copy of his report on autonomous weapons. This report reflects views from member States, observer States, international organisations, civil society, the scientific community and industry, who provided submissions for the report ways to address the related challenges and concerns that autonomous weapons systems raise from humanitarian, legal, security, technological and ethical perspectives and on the role of humans in the use of force.
Our research and monitoring team Automated Decision Research has compiled a report summarising the the 58 submissions from states, state groups, and international organisations.
Please note, that this report does not include summaries of submissions made by other interested parties, such as the submission of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the submission of the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial summary or arbitrary executions, or summaries of submissions made by the Stop Killer Robots campaign or Stop Killer Robots coalition members and other civil society stakeholders.
