Briefing Note for CCW GGE, 9-13 April: Retaining human control of weapons systems

This briefing note provides an overview of the current state of technology and diplomatic progress. It also highlights key characteristics and meaningful human control as a fundamental concept to an international treaty to prohibit autonomous weapons.

States must draw the line now against unchecked autonomy in weapon systems by ensuring that the decision to take human life is never be delegated to a machine.
