On 13 October, 2023, Stop Killer Robots launched Automated by Design, an interactive, multimedia exhibition that explores digital dehumanisation and autonomous weapons systems. Digital dehumanisation is the process by which humans are reduced to data, which is then used to make decisions and/or take actions that negatively affects their lives.
The exhibition opened in New York City, during the UN General Assembly. The purpose of the exhibition is to support public, political and media outreach, and to create opportunities for members of the public, politicians and other decision makers to see autonomous weapons and digital dehumanisation as issues that are relevant to the lives of their families, friends and communities.
The exhibition was created by Identity 2.0, and produced with support from Soka Gakkai International and Amnesty International. In 2024, the physical exhibition will travel and a corresponding microsite, providing a digital experience of the exhibition, will go live.
